Weekly Summary: Mar. 25-31

03-25-13
Mon: 0
Rest day, left shin still feeling sore.

03-26-13
Tue: 0
Rest day, making three off days in-a-row. Probably could have tested the shin today (really feels more like a tweak than an injury), but trying to play it safe. When in doubt, rest. Plan to give it a go on a shorter run tomorrow.

03-27-13
Wed-AM: 6 mi (:52) // Greenway
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x), Sabo (2x)
Shin felt a little tender. Didn't affect my stride, but I felt it frequent enough that more rest may be in order. Oh, the irony of needing to rest an injury on the first week of spring-like weather . . .

03-28-13
Thu: 0
Rest.

03-29-13
Fri-PM: 3.5 mi (:31) // Upper Mississippi loop
Lake St. (1x), Franklin St. (1x)
Easy, short loop after a walk along the riverfront with Ashley and Sam. Warmest day of the year so far, near +50F! The snow is abating rather quickly. Seems like no one knows quite how to dress right now . . . saw everything from shorts with no t-shirt to pants & jackets. The shin felt okay, but will give it a longer test tomorrow just to be sure.

03-30-13
Sat-PM: 12 mi (1:35) // Mississippi Riverfront
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x)
From the front door down to river. After some showers this morning (still getting used to rain falling from the sky again!), the sun came out and took the temps up near +50F again. Never been so happy to overdress! Wanted to try a softer speed workout out on the shin, so went with an 8-mile progression run starting from 8:15/mi down to 6:30mi (:15/mi intervals; splits = 8:12, 8:00, 7:43, 7:32, 7:13, 6:54, 6:41, 6:28).

03-31-13
Sun-PM: 5 mi (:46) // Upper Mississippi loop
Lake St. (1x), Franklin St. (1x)
Easy loop around the river at dusk. Beautiful city skyline tonight, but alas, forgot to bring the camera. After getting familiar with how the trees that line the river coast look in the daylight hours, it was fun to see them turn black and shadowy in the fading twilight. Runs like tonight make me wonder I don't schedule more outings near sunset. Totally worth it.

Totals: 26.5 mi (3:43, 10 bridges)
