Mon-PM: 21 mi (3:14) // Fort Snelling
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x), Franklin St. (1x), Fort Rd. (1x)
Took the big loop around the Mississippi River, down to Fort Snelling Visitor Center (missed open hours by 10 mins or so -- bummer!), and back home (1 gel, 1 granola bar). Tough miles out there in the snow: fresh stuff on the ground, fresh stuff through the air -- both falling from the sky and "drifting" off the ground from the 30+ mph winds. Really hoping spring is just around the corner . . .

Tue-PM: 11.5 mi (1:42) // Upper Mississippi loop
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x), Sabo (2x), Lake St. (1x), Franklin St. (1x)
Still really cold out there, struggling to enjoy these late winter runs. Actually passed someone walking backwards (in my direction) today because of the 30+ mph winds. Thought about saying something to acknowledge the craziness of the weather, but decided a simple head nod would speak enough.

Wed-AM: 11.5 mi (1:37) // Greenway
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x)
"Spring" has officially sprung, but wind chills are still well below zero (-10F) and ice abounds. A bitter beginning to say the least. The sunshine was a nice gift on this first day of spring though! Really hoping to see the color green soon. Surprising how many of my thoughts have been occupied with the coming of spring, almost like wishing its arrival will expedite it . . .

Easy run, out to the river and back.

Fri-AM: 12.5 mi (1:37) // Upper Mississippi loop
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x), Franklin St. (1x), Lake St. (1x)
Some speed-work along the riverfront: 2-mile warm-up, 5x1-mile with 1/2-mile recovery (5:56, 6:12, 6:11, 6:05, 6:27), 3.5-mile cool-down. Beautiful day for a run, a warm upper 20s -- if that's possible! Legs felt a little tired and had some stomach issues, so happy to have made it through this one. Really need to get out earlier on these fast days when I have more energy. Felt a twinge tightness in the lower front of my left shin afterwards. Hope it's nothing.

Sat-PM: 12.5 mi (1:57) // Mississippi Riverfront
Franklin St. (2x)
Easy, recovery run along the hillier, St. Paul side of the river. Shin definitely got tweaked during yesterday's speed-work. Maybe while I was hoping over some puddles yesterday? Strange. Plan to take the scheduled day off tomorrow, and possibly Monday. Hopefully I didn't make it too much worse by running on it today.
