Mon-PM: 22 mi (3:25) // Fort Snelling
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x), Franklin St. (1x), Fort Rd. (1x), Mendota (2x)
Took the normal path along the Mississippi River, smiling occasionally to see that it's mostly in liquid form again! Sign of spring? Winter's definitely not had its last word though . . . there was some fresh snow through the night, and another 6-10" expected into tomorrow. A good day for animals sightings: couple of bald eagles, 3 deer, and lots of turkeys . . .
| Happy Monday . . . |
In case you've ever wondered, a deer at lunchtime:

03-11-13:
Mon-PM: 3.5 mi (:31) // Upper Mississippi loop
Lake St. (1x), Franklin St. (1x)
Easy and really short. First run since welcoming my son, Samuel Anthony Robbins, into the world last Tuesday at 11:47am in the middle of a snowstorm! (Read the full account here.) He looks like a runner to me, long and lean (6 lbs 14 oz) . . .
After his arrival, I came down with flu-like symptoms while in the hospital that lasted through the weekend. Still feeling the "hangover" effect from the sickness, but finally feeling well enough to run. Hope to be back to normal soon, but will probably be taking it easy this week with a full load at school and an adjusting schedule at home. Already love being a dad though!

Tue-PM: 7 mi (1:01) // Greenway
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x), Sabo (2x)
Easy out and back to the Mississippi. Legs feeling okay, but still feel a bit off on energy from the cold.

Fri-PM: 10 mi (1:21) // Upper + lower Mississippi loop
Intercity (1x), Franklin St. (1x)
Feeling better, I think. Didn't get out the door until late in the afternoon. Found myself thankful for the time change -- more daylight running hours! Hope to get back into some more regular running rhythms here soon. Saw a bald eagle too!

Sat-AM: 14 mi (1:46) // Mississippi riverfront
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x)
From the house, up and down the riverfront: 2-mile warm-up, 9-mile tempo (6:41 avg; splits: 6:41, 6:37, 6:40, 6:48, 6:35, 6:42, 6:42, 6:38, 6:43; no gels), 3-mile cool-down. Typical winter conditions: mediocre footing, kinda windy, kinda cold. Happy with the even pacing though. Ran out of energy half-way through the cool-down.

Week 1 Totals: 22.0 mi (3:25, 6 bridges)
