Rest.

Tue-PM: 6 mi (:57) // Mississippi trails
Easy evening run along the Mississippi River via the river bank trails. The combination of the dark clouds + light drizzle made the combination of the trees + trails feel quite alive. Forgot how much fun it is to run through the mud too! Funny how I find myself avoiding puddles when running on the roads, but somehow jumping right in the middle on them when running on the trails.

Rest. Sigh, time got away from me today . . .

Thu-PM: 9 mi (1:19) // Upper Mississippi loop
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x), Franklin St. (1x), Lake St. (1x)
Longest run thus far since the marathon. Still taking it easy, but all systems seem to be nearing fully-recovered.

Fri-PM: 10 mi (1:36) // Hyland State Park
Beautiful day to get reacquainted with the trail system after the long winter hiatus, upper +60Fs with lots of sunshine -- though all the flat miles I've been running made these hills feel like mountains! Definitely time to get back into trail shape. (Changed shoes ~7 mi to feel out some new cross-country flats ahead of next Wednesday's 10k. Much better grip and nimbleness than my current go-to trail shoes, the Kinabalu's, but I wouldn't wear them for anything longer than ~10 miles. Not much cushioning!)

Sat-PM: 9 mi (1:23) // Fort Snelling State Park
Pike Island (2x)
Two joys out there today were (1) the first deer sightings of the spring -- found 4 of them tucked away on one of the park's back roads, and (2) the smell of wet dirt from the recent rains. Good stuff.

Sun-PM: 13 mi (2:07) // Hyland State Park
Similar route to Friday's outing, but parked on the front edge of the park this time to start and end with the steeper hills on the ski resort side. Wildlife sightings: 3 turkeys (all rollin' solo), 2 rabbits, 1 deer (don't see many deer here!). Nice end to a week heavy on classes.
Totals: 47.0 mi (7:22, 6 bridges)
