Mon-AM: 12 mi (1:47)
Bridge Which Must Not Be Named (2x)
Greenway (GW) to the Mississippi. Couldn't decide between a longer run or some speed-work, some went with a mix of both: 5-mi warmup, then 1/2-mile fartleks (3:22, 3:11, 3:08, 3:05) with 1/2-mile recovery (1/4-mile on the last), then 3-mi cool down. 10k Saturday should be, interesting...

GW to the Mississippi. Good, easy run on a gloopy day -- gray clouds with some light drizzling. About 4 miles in, I found myself in the middle of a bike (or cycling?) race of some sort. Looked like a time trial judging by the spacing between riders. A little surprising given that it was a Wed. morning (who races on a Wed?), but I decided to tag along a little further than I had originally planned out of curiosity. Seemed like a legit race: timers, "photogs," guys with computers, cool jerseys, distance markers (km), Australian accents, motorcycles and sponsored vehicles following riders at an uncomfortably close distance, and the like. Atmosphere wasn't quite like an ultra (or even a 5k, for that matter): few spectators, and even those seemed to prefer silence. I tried clapping for a Mexican-jerseyed rider, but it seemed to bother more than encourage. Interesting...

Planned on a short, relaxing, let's-just-stretch-the-legs outing, but stormy weather had other plans:

Sat-AM: 8 mi (:55)
Two counter-clockwise laps around Lake Calhoun, w/Ashley! Fill Their Plate 10k: 39:45, 12th place. Happy with the effort, especially coming off the recent injury and coming in with virtually no speed training. Could probably have pushed a little harder on the 2nd loop, but happy nonetheless! A great morning:

Three Rivers State Park, w/Ashley! A slow recovery run through the "hills" of Three Rivers -- the closest thing the Twin Cities has to mountains. Time to start training a little more specific for the hilliness of the Afton 50k coming up in a few weeks. Legs felt pretty exhausted from yesterday's 10k. Beautiful scenery to behold this morning, most of it green:
But, not all of it:Totals: 44.0 mi (6:37, 11 bridges)
