Weekly Summary: Nov. 7-13

11-07-11
Mon-PM: 10 mi (1:38)
Greenway (GW) to Mississippi trail (MT). "They" say you should, when running, dress for around 20 degrees above the actual outside air temperature. (This was a fairly consistent recommendation I found when prepping for the winter last year.) For example, today it was a sunny 49 degrees. So, theoretically: 49° + 20° = 69° = t-shirt + shorts = November running bliss, right? Negative. What I think this equation fails to take into account is the wind, and the potential chills therein. Note, to, self...

11-08-11
Tue-AM: 13 mi (2:01)
GW to MT. This is likely a runner quirk, but I've noticed myself measuring my sickness recovery progress based solely on the mileage that goes by between nose-blows—currently up to 2.5 mi or so. Also: #26, #27.

11-09-11
Wed-PM: 10 mi (1:39)
GW to MT. Because of the daylight savings, what used to be afternoon shadows is now just afternoon shade. Can't imagine what 3p in early December will be like. Also: #28.

11-10-11
Thu: OFF
Classes.

11-11-11
Fri-PM: 12 mi (1:53)
GW to MT. 29th leaf snag of the season was the smallest so far.

11-12-11
Sat-AM: 11 mi (1:41)
Three Rivers / Hyland Park. With Ashley (2.5 mi)! #5 for Ashley; #30 for me.

11-13-11
Sun-AM: 8 mi (1:17)
GW to MT. The Sunday morning shake-out run is quickly becoming a weekly favorite. City life feels ghost-town-esqe until 11a or so, leaving the roads, paths and trails free from other moving objects. Nothing like guilt-free jaywalking and running right down the middle of the Greenway just because after a week full of over-the-shoulder glances for bikes and looking-both-ways-before-you-cross-the-road for cars.

Totals: 64.0 mi (10:09)
