Mon-PM: 10 mi (1:41)
Greenway (GW) to Mississippi trail (MT). A tiring outing. The footing on the bike path was, to understate it, a little icy from the weekend's wintery weather. I'm beginning to remember why winter miles are 1-3 mins slower. The trail ended up being very runnable though. If such runnability continues through the early snow season (before the snow drifts have really built up), I will be quite happy. We will see.

Tue: REST
Research/study day in the library. The borderline miserable experience yesterday on the ice (not to mention some related leg soreness) made some rest an easy call. Predicted warmer weather (low 50s) over the next few days also was an influence.

Wed-AM: 9 mi (1:29)
Fort Snelling State Park. With Ashley (3.5 mi)! Also, #35.
11-24-11
Thu-AM: 7 mi (1:08)
Three Rivers State Park. With Ashley (4.5 mi)! Bumped into the first 3 deer I've seen in this park. The park signs claim to have a "deer habitat" of some sort, but I had (until today) yet to see any of the brown gallopers. Loving 53 degrees. Happy Thanksgiving!

Fri-AM: 16 mi (2:29)
GW to MT. Still rather balmy in the low 50s. (Again, remembering last year's early November snow and chill, I can't believe I'm still able to comfortably wear shorts. Other than a couple sub-20 mornings, this feels pretty much like the South.) Lots of people out cruising the bike paths (typically overdressed), but had the river trails mostly to myself. Also, #36.

Sat-AM: 3.5 mi (:34) + 9 mi (1:05)
Toured Fort Snelling with Ashley for 3.5 mi (highlights: encountering 3-4 deer and checking out the fireplace of fireplaces together), then took the Greenway along the riverfront back home solo. Started off rather foggy, which then worsened into a heavier, windy mist--what I imagine running through a cloud to be like. Even though outside temp was around 40, the wet/wind combo made for quite the chill--"that kind of chill that gets inside your bones," said Ashley 5 mins into the run. On the way home (motivated by the chill and the promise of a steamy cup of white chicken chili), I tried to clock around 7-min miles. I guess you could call it a "tempo" run. Some days "why not?" is as compelling as anything else.
11-27-11
Sun-PM: 10 mi (1:36)
GW to MT. Coming off of yesterday's tempo run, the pace throughout was a little erratic. The legs feel fresher than I expected though. Also, completely unplanned, I bumped into Ashley on the riverfront doing her own quick run before heading to the store. We gave each other a smile and a high five as our paths crossed.
Totals: 64.5 mi (10:02)
